 In FY 2001 - 02, Venky's (India) Limited, commissioned an Edible Oil Refinery with a capacity of 50 tonnes per day. Edible soya oil is marketed, in bulk, in the neighbouring rural markets. Acid Oil, which is converted from a by-product of the oil refinery, is supplied to local soap manufacturers.
The future plans of the plant are to increase its crushing capacity to 90,000 tonnes/month and manufacture Lecithin, by conversion process of a by-product. The machinery for this process has been imported, and production is likely to commence by end of FY 2002 - 03.
